That is a great picture of Lex.Elizabeth Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10066234895436783763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1049802204606704817.post-51487550305645032702008-09-02T10:58:00.000-07:002008-09-02T10:58:00.000-07:00First, are you a child bride?! I would have never ...First, are you a child bride?! I would have never guessed in a million years you would have a grown son. BTW, he is very handsome and looks so distinguished--you must be so proud!

I, too, am really proud of Sarah Palin. We graduated high school the same year; in fact, I played b-ball for Homer when she played for Wasilla, so I'm fairly certain I played against her team. Also, I met her through my sister who competed for Miss Alaska the same time. I'm not bringing it up to name drop but to emphasize how real a person she is. She's not some slick lawyer or trust fund baby or career politician.

She was a kid who played basketball. She was a teenage girl who played the flute in a pageant to try and win some scholarship money for school. She married her high school sweetheart. She had children. Her involvement with her kids' lives (hockey, school) evolved into community service. And that community service has taken her down a path to real, policy-changing political action.

The media and internet are now tearing her life apart, looking for the tiniest shred of dirt, weakness, imperfection, etc. It's really scary. Who among us could ever stand that kind of scrutiny? I've made the mistake of reading some online forums about her bid for VP and it's made my stomach turn the way people dehumanize her and her family. The lesson seems to be, don't be a normal person and try to run for political office.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11117084634845147874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1049802204606704817.post-9288350776156927212008-08-30T19:47:00.000-07:002008-08-30T19:47:00.000-07:00I was so excited at work (they had a television on...I was so excited at work (they had a television on) when I watched the whole event with McCain's birthday and Sarah Palin's 20th wedding anniversary! That has got to be more than a coincidence.

Sarah was terrific up there in front of the public!!

Yeah for Alaska! How neat Geri that Lex has met Sarah Palin in person!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02174981359946655111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1049802204606704817.post-21325778939915958652008-08-30T17:19:00.000-07:002008-08-30T17:19:00.000-07:00I'm excited, too! LOL! I had no idea you had a son in the service, either. You don't look old enough to have a son that old, either!lol. I think she would be a good asset, just worry that others think she is not prepared enough. Thanks for sharing a pic! She's very accomplished and I'm interested to learn more about her.

How cool that you "know her"! That is an awesome picture.

I didn't know your son was overseas. Thanks to you for supporting him, and him for his service.Loquacioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01667591498679385934noreply@blogger.com
