Head in the Clouds

and the rest of us too. In the clouds I mean. (My husband says I walk around with my head in the clouds, but that is another story) THESE clouds were what we saw from our airplane as we lifted up from our house and headed to Palmer.

Here are the lakes around our home. You can see Cook Inlet and then Mt. Spurr , one of my favorite mountains in the world. I was raised looking out at this mountain every morning when I got up. You can understand why I love it so much!

At first it was clear, but as we headed out towards our destination, we were immediately swallowed up by the enormous fluffy clouds you see here. Although the lakes below us could still be seen, it was getting much thicker.

Now its pretty hard to see! Good thing I am flying with the best small plane pilot in the world!

Isn't it just so pretty though? When I was a little girl, I wanted to have a magic carpet and be high above everyone on the way to a grand adventure. This is the closest to that you can imagine! In every direction we are surrounded by these beautiful billowing white cushions. The world as we know it is still down there, but we cannot see it. Its a peaceful feeling.

In this pic, I captured the airplane prop. You know what? Looking in front of me, sitting there in the co-pilot's seat, I cannot see the prop at all. I can only see it when I take a picture. Isn't that cool? Anyway, here you can see the prop and the nose of the plane a bit. Its a Cessna 180. I nicknamed this plane "Chili Pepper" because its red and HOT. So here you can see Chili's nose a bit.
I cannot truly show you the beauty of this flight with pictures.
So, why don't you climb in with me? Fasten your shoulder belt..it goes into you lap belt like this. Good. Now tighten it..I mean really snug it up. You don't want to hit your head on the ceiling if it gets turbulent over the mountains. Now put on your headset, and put your sunglasses on. Turn on your headset, can you read me? Great. Don't cough or sneeze into it, and for Pete's sake, don't get lipstick on your microphone. Michael hates that. See the red ribbon tied to the bar? That means we are on an active flight plan with Flight Service. The ribbon is to remind him to close out the plan, which means we call and say we have arrived safely. If we forget to call, Search and Rescue will come and try to find us. Now,careful not to get your feet or legs in the way of the trim wheel, down there on the floor. He needs that to land..and you want to land safely with us, don't you? All set?
Here we go!!! (WATCH THE FOLLOWING VIDEO FOR YOUR FLIGHT EXPERIENCE)

As we almost reached Palmer , the fog cleared and we could see the rivers and lakes below us again. WATCH THIS VIDEO and see the beautiful green of Palmer's farmland, as we prepare to land at the fair.

Hope you enjoyed your flight! We realize you had many options for your traveling plans today, and we thank you for choosing our airline. Please remember to collect your belongings, and for your safety, please be careful when opening overhead bins, as objects may shift during flight. Hee hee.

Love the photos and videos! VERY cool! My dh is a photographer and just went up to the northern part of Maine (in the mountains and near the ocean) and had some clouds literally hanging right in front of him...made for some really cool pics.

I'd LOVE to visit Alaska sometime. My mom has a cousin that lives in Fairbanks and I always loved looking at their pictures when they came to visit.

My dad did a trip like that a couple years ago and had me scrapbook it for him. One of my favorite books ever. Your area is so beautiful- thanks for the video. I can't wait for MY turn.
